The best way to wake up from this cold winter is to unleash your ingenuity and good humor. Prepare your costume for Carnival. This year, the quintessential pagan festival arrives early in Cádiz, Andalusia. The festivities begin on Thursday, February 7th and run until Sunday, February 17th.

Prepare your costume

During those ten days, Cadiz dresses up for the festivities, and its streets fill with people. We'll enjoy hilarious chirigotas (singing-songs) and crowds of spectators. The first Saturday of Carnival, February 9th, is when the most costumed people are on the streets. The vast majority of people come from outside the city. In short, you can't go to Cadiz without a costume; you'll stand out if you go dressed up.

Afterwards, there's fun throughout the entire Carnival week. In the city of Cádiz, performances by all the choirs, chirigotas, comparsas, and quartets take place on various stages. Various groups have been preparing for Carnival all year long, with their elaborate costumes and a corrosive humor that leaves no stone unturned in the current social, political, and economic reality.
